Citizen Publishing Co.

Citizen Publishing Company is located in Hazleton, Pennsylvania and has been established since 1912. Owned and operated by the same family for three generations.

Citizen Publishing Company was established on July 20, 1912 as publisher and printer of the Slovak Language newspaper “Slovensky Obcan” – The Slovak Citizen - a bi-weekly paper serving the Eastern European immigrant communities of Luzerne, Carbon and Schuylkill counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The newspaper ceased publication in the 1940’s but the company continued as a commercial printing operation.

Citizen continues today in that tradition, utilizing the latest technologies, providing quality printing to the business, industrial and professional communities. The company is one of the oldest businesses in the Hazleton Area, owned and operated by the same family since being founded over 100 years ago, and is located in the Historic Sargent Industrial building, the former Duplan Silk Mill, in downtown Hazleton.
